In my enthusiasm for multicoloured roses I acquired a Fortune`s Double Yellow in 2007, not knowing that this rose hardly tolerates any frost. Despite thick winter protection of straw, leaves and reed mats it freezes back to the ground every year, but sprouts again cheerfully in spring. This year it has grown to over 2 m, arching, should be a dream when it blooms. But since it blooms on 2-year-old wood, I have not yet seen a flower. In warmer regions this may be different, but it is not suitable for the central Upper Palatinate. A pity, a pity, I'm hoping for a mild winter!Automatically translated · Show original
We kept Fortune's Double Yellow going through three winters in Augsburg (!) and enjoyed two wonderful displays of blooms - but the winter of 2009/10 was too cold for this rose. In spring 2010, however, small shoots appeared, and this year it is sprouting vigorously again; I can't find any frost damage and I'm looking forward to the coming flowering season. Even though the winter was bitterly cold this year, our latest version of the "winter coat" for the tea rose worked.Automatically translated · Show original
