Mainzer Fastnacht is a fragrant rose with exceptionally coloured, pink-lilac, silvery mauve blooms. These have the shape of a classic hybrid tea rose; they sit on upright, strong stems.
The hybrid tea rose Mainzer Fastnacht, also known as Blue Moon, is one of the best "blue-flowering" roses in a blue-tinged lavender-mauve tone. The firm blooms of this free-flowering rose are well suited for cutting and last a long time in the vase.
With Indigoletta / Azubis there is also a climbing sport of Mainzer Fastnacht.
Caring for, pruning and overwintering the Mainzer Fastnacht rose
As with other hybrid tea roses, Mainzer Fastnacht is cut back fairly hard and fertilised in spring.
After flowering, the shoots are removed down to at least three eyes below the bud. Regular fertilising promotes new growth.
Although it is overall fairly low-maintenance, Mainzer Fastnacht needs a somewhat sheltered location and should receive at least light winter protection.
