The undemanding Damask moss rose grows vigorously with shoots up to 2 m tall, and in favourable sites is also suitable as a climbing rose on a trellis or house wall, especially in partially shaded sites.
To keep the shrub in shape, it is advisable to shorten the shoots from time to time.
The repeat bloom often only occurs after a few years and is not very abundant.

We have had Moreau growing in our garden for 3 summers.
She forms an upright, much-branched, proper shrub of numerous thin, brownish shoots, which has decorative value even without flowers thanks to its dark green foliage, and now in winter without leaves as well.
By pruning she is limited to 1.20 cm.
She blooms pure white 1 to 2 weeks later than the other centifolias and moss roses, for 3 weeks in all with a few stragglers still; the 3-flower clusters do not all open at the same time.
Even before and after the flowering season it is fun to touch her; the resin of the moss rose smells good on the hands, somewhat heavier in fragrance than the ordinary Muscosa.
She is perhaps somewhat more prone to powdery mildew in great heat than other old roses, but by cutting back the "mildewy" tips after the flowering season we have managed even without spraying.
Fits well in the background or as a contrast next to a round bush.Automatically translated · Show original
