Clematis 'Olympia' was bred in 2016 by British breeder Raymond Evison on Guernsey and, as 'Evipo099', belongs to his Boulevard series of compact, container-friendly varieties. The flowers open 8 to 10 cm wide in a delicate pale blue and are star-shaped: usually six overlapping, pointed sepals with a gently wavy edge surround a striking crown of creamy-white stamens.
'Olympia' flowers first from June to July, then produces a second flush in September. With a compact height of 100 to 150 cm, the variety is particularly well suited to pots and window boxes at least 45 cm deep, though it also grows happily on a small trellis or obelisk in a border. It prefers a sunny to partially shaded position with a cool, shaded root run.
The variety is reliably hardy (zone 4, down to around -34.4 to -28.9°C) and copes well even with harsher winters. For vigorous new growth and abundant flowering, cut your Clematis 'Olympia' back to about 25 cm in March – a hard prune as a low-maintenance alternative to the light pruning usually given to this group.

A great plant already in the first yearGrows in a relatively dark environment, so the rather light foliage is just right. Strong first flowering phase, then a pause and new growth in August. Now in September a good repeat flush, more buds are still there too. Photo from today. Looking forward to seeing how it develops next year.Automatically translated · Show original
