Peter Paul Rubens, from the Belgian breeder Martin Vissers, could actually also be an Austin rose — at least judging by its origin and characteristics. The cross between Lucetta and Golden Celebration produces small clusters of globular, densely double blooms in pink with apricot that exude a vigorous fragrance with notes of lemon and mango. The heavy blooms nod a little, so a dry site, bold summer pruning and optimal nutrient supply are recommended.
The small shrub grows no taller than 1 m and is excellently suited to a container.
