Alba Roses
The ´White Rose´ was already cultivated in the days of the Greeks and Romans. Rosa alba arose from a natural cross between Rosa canina (dog rose) and Rosa damascena. In the Middle Ages it was cultivated on a large scale for medicinal purposes.
The colour range of the Alba roses is limited to white, pink and soft pink. Almost all have a pleasant fragrance. They bloom from June to the end of July.
The growth is vigorous and bushy, often arching. They reach a height of 180 cm and more. These roses thrive even under the most difficult conditions, in partially shaded positions and in some cases even in full shade on a north-facing wall. Anyone who needs a particularly frost-hardy rose will certainly be best advised to choose an Alba rose.
