Foetida Roses (Austrian Briars)
The very hardy Rosa foetida is native from Asia Minor to the north-west Himalayas. Its descendants gave rise to the yellow and orange garden roses.
These roses, often also called Austrian briars, are distinguished by a very early and abundant bloom. The small leaves are covered with fragrant glands.
